Hot and Fresh

Hot and Fresh was created for a food themed show at Parlor ATL. The women in the painting is wearing Gucci and standing in front of Atlanta's Krispy Kreme building. In each piece I create, a story starts to form and then solidifies as I continue to paint. Here is this work's story:

Sometimes, I think I shouldn't want doughnuts. Like, isn't the high vibrational being in me over this sort of thing? Haven't I grown out of sugary sweetness soothing my soul? However, as I stand here waiting on the guy who stole my heart to arrive I think about love. I love this day we get to spend with each other. I love that we get to act like kids again licking flakes of sugar off our lips. I love choosing our favorite confections at the counter. I feel blessed that such sweet things as these Krispy Kreme doughnuts exist. No, they are not every day things. They are special things. Today, I will enjoy this treat. Enjoy my company. Enjoy my life. Enjoy this perfect doughnut.
